Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs)
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (or SSRI for short) is a group of widely used psychiatric medications.
SSRIs works through blocking the reuptake of serotonin in the brain synapses, increasing the effect of serotonin on the brain. They are mainly used in treating emotional disorders such as depression and anxiety. Medications containing selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are generally well tolerated.
